Info about Milan’s public transport system
Milan has a very good transport system, It has four metro lines (92 km total) that we call with name of the colour:
Linea 1: Red Line (Linea Rossa or La Rossa) Sesto 1° Maggio- Rho Fiera / Bisceglie
Linea 2: Green Line (Linea Verde or La Verde) Abbiategrasso / Assago Milanofiori Forum – Cologno Nord Gessate
Linea 3: Yellow Line (Linea Gialla or La Gialla) San Donato – Comasina
Linea 4: Blue Line – At the moment (2023) open only from Linate to Dateo
Linea 5: Lilla Line (Linea Lilla or La Lilla) Bignami – San Siro Stadio
Linea 4: (Linea Blu or La Blu) will open around 2023 and will connect the airport Linate with the city center.
BUSES: suffer a bit the traffic jams. To reach your destination we suggest to get close with a metro line and than walk or catch a bus for a shorter section.
NIGHT PUBLIC TRANSPORT: Since 2011 municipality of Milan provides every day a no-stop night service of buses that follow (every 30 minutes) routes of metro lines . Everyday of the week circle lines 90-91 run all night long.
LOCAL TIP: We recommend Tram N°1 line; It goes to the main spots of Milan (Castle, Fashion areas, Cathedral area, La Scala)
